I hope you all had a great weekend. Here's this weeks QOTW:
What sort of activities you do with your DC throughout the day? What kinds of things would you like for him/her to be do that you currently don't?
As usual, I'll go first! Nathan loves his Jumperoo and he likes to play in that for short times. We also play on the floor together and go to play group. It's been a lot of fun playing with him since he learned to sit. He's working on the whole crawling thing so once he does that, my day will most likely consist of me chasing him around the house. My parents live about 5 minutes away, so he has lots of interaction with his grandparents. I would love to take him to Kindermusic, but the times are a little tricky to make it. If we had a Gymboree that held classes, I would love to do that too.

I play on the floor with her, or we visit my sister next door. I am looking forward to nice weather so we can go on walks and play outside. I would like to do a swimming class, or gymboree class, but I live in the middle of nowhere so that is not an option.
ReplyDeleteWe have a lot of floor time now that she is sitting and even showing some interest in crawling!! She loves her jumperoo and exersaucer as well. In warmer weather we took our dogs for walks almost everyday. I too am looking forward to nicer weather to do more activities outside. I love to garden( plant flowers and veggies) so I look forward to her watching me do that!
ReplyDeleteMcKayla just started crawling a couple weeks ago and since then I like to spread toys all over the living room so she can crawl around and play with what she wants. I put her Leap Frog music table on one side of the living room and her Fisher Price peek-a-boo piano on the other and she likes to go back and forth between the two and stop along the way. She also loves her jumperoo and can bounce for what seems like forever!! I try to read for at least 10 minutes a day with her, she really enjoys it. I'm definitely looking forward to the warmer weather so we can go on walks and visits different parks in the area. There is a baby "gym" nearby that I've been looking into but I can't decide which class time would be best with her naptimes, none of them seem to work. But I think it would be a lot of fun now that she can crawl!!
ReplyDeleteSpencer is crawling all over the place now, so I spend alot of time following him around and keeping him out of trouble :) He is also pulling up and cruising on anything he can reach, so that keeps me busy! We live in NY, so it's snowy and cold here, so we go to the mall alot and walk around...he seems to love it! We just joined a baby music class that starts in two weeks, so we will do that on Wednesdays. And we go to a mom and tot swimming hour at my local recreation center on mondays. Pretty much anything to keep us doing something, out of the house everyday unless its freezing out, or else we both get bored!
ReplyDeleteWe play on the floor: crawling, playing with toys, reading. I have just started doing his Baby VTech with him and I think he may still be a little young. We talk a lot and I assist him in walking. He cruises the furniture but then when he wants to go to his room or to the toy box I help him. I would like to get him into a swimming class on Fridays and have more play dates.
ReplyDeleteWe do tons of floor play! He is not into his jumperoo now that he can roll and scoot all over. We go for walks around the neighborhood and visit family. We read books and sing songs. Declan LOVES music and dancing!
ReplyDeleteEvan's in day care during the week so I don't get to spend as much time with him as I'd like. At night he tends to be clingy so our activities are limited to holding and feeding mostly. But on weekends he loves to sit in the floor with his toys, do the spin-n-roll (he doesn't crawl yet), and play peekaboo. He's also still content to sit in his jumperoo for short periods.
ReplyDeleteSince he's become mobile he crawls/rolls/scoots/etc around and I follow him. We floorplay, read, sing, occasionally he still swings (generally when he's sleepy). I can't wait until it's nicer so we can get out for walks and such. We're moving in a week and are going to be near a library that has 'baby birds' storytime so I'm excited for that. I'd love to do a swim class, but we can't afford it right now... maybe sometime in the future.
ReplyDeleteBenjamin and I spend most of our day in the Family Room where most of his toys are. His favorites right now are his telephone, Leap Frog Learning Table, and Sesame Street ANYTHING. He is trying so hard to crawl right now, but spends most of the time rolling or pushing himself backwards :-) We, too, can't afford the classes I'd like to take him to. Hopefully, once the weather gets nice and springy we won't even miss them!
ReplyDeleteSierra and I have pretty busy weeks, we've made a few mom/baby friends at the Mom's Group I started attending at the birthing center we had her at when she was 8 weeks old. We go on walks, have playdates at eachothers houses (mostly for myself and a friend or two now I think hah), she loves her Leap Frog Learn and Groove table, and just stated crawling.
ReplyDeleteSince she's discovered the 'toy box' in the corner of the living room she's frequently over there digging (more or less) in the box and pulling every single thing out and throwing it around the living room. It's pretty funny... until I've cleaned it up for the 15th time :P I should really stop and just do it at the end of the day!
I'd like to do Music Together and a Signing playgroup/class - but we just don't really have the funds right now. SO we work off of a DVD and borrow my friends music together CDs ;)
I work during the week, so on weekends, we spend lots of time on the floor. He's rolling around like crazy, and I'm hoping he'll start to figure out crawling soon. I usually have music playing in the background. For some reason, he gets really happy and bouncy when I have Sugarland playing!
ReplyDeleteMy parents live nearby, so we'll typically go over on Sundays so they can get their "Ian fix". He always perks up as soon as he hears my dad's voice, and has a great time while my mom changes his diaper (he's usually fussy and wiggly for us no matter how fun we try to make it, but giggles and hangs out for her).
I would love to take him to our local library for baby storytime, but since it's on Tuesday mornings, it's not possible. I also wish that he could have more interactions with other babies. Right now, we have the rare playdate or get together with friends of ours who have a 1-year-old. And I can't wait for spring so that we can get outside for walks or just playing in the yard.
I work during the week also (from home luckily so I still get to see Natalie and nurse her :). During the work week, she spends time with our nanny playing, practicing trying to crawl and pull herself up, going for walks, reading books and going to rhyme time at the local library. During the weekend, Natalie and I take a swim class together, sing songs and read together (well, at least I'm singing and reading :), going for walks (she loves to be outside) and trying to lunge for all her toys in an attempt to crawl. Her favorite toys right now are a bunch of balls and blocks -- she goes from one to the other banging them together and then clapping with excitement at them.
ReplyDeleteLily is crawling and pulling up on everything (including the diaper champ, the diaper box, the laundry bin -- everything!) so I spend a lot of time making sure she doesn't hurt herself. :) She loves her FP Laugh & Learn activity table and this little wooden walker that has blocks inside. We also read & play lots and lots of peek-a-boo. I live in Arizona, so we take two to three walks a day -- usually before nap time.
ReplyDeleteWe're planning to start swim lessons next month. I keep wanting to take her to the library baby reading time but I always forget. I'd also like to get her around other babies but don't really know many moms. And finally, I want to make sure we are outside as much as possible before it's too hot!
